Urban County Council Races
The Urban County Council is the legislative branch of the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government.
Council can create and pass ordinances (laws) and resolutions, establish budgets, set policy, and levy taxes subject to the limits set by the city and state laws.
Lexington’s three At-Large Council members represent all of Lexington/Fayette County. They serve four-year terms and may serve up to three consecutive terms. The At-Large candidate who receives the most votes in the General Election becomes the Vice Mayor.
Your District Council member depends on where you live. These Council members are elected for two-year terms and may serve up to six consecutive terms.
